We've used Franson GpsTools in a .net application for vegetation classification of
a large mountain area. The application was in use on a Tablet PC in a
helicopter. The PC was connected to a digital camera (Nikon D70) in a
gyro mounted under the chopper automatically sending HiRes pictures to
the tabletPC with GPS position from connected GPS. Visual vegetation
observations where done every 6th second, and then registered on the
TabletPC along with picture and GPS information.
The application was custom maid by me and we ended up with 5000 pictures,
and the same amount of vegetation observations after 3 days of flying
transects on a large mountain area in Norway.
